We are seeking an experienced Agricultural Development Underwriter to join the Underwriting team at Victor. This role will be based in our Leeds office; however, hybrid working is supported, with the successful candidate expected to spend time across various locations providing on-site underwriting to our brokers.
The Agricultural Development Underwriter will carry out a wide range of underwriting activities and broker development related to our Farm Combined and Farm Motor products. The role involves executing the company strategy and contributing to our financial plans. You will also focus on providing superior customer service, front-line broker development, and ensuring product profitability. The Underwriter will manage key agricultural broker accounts, providing on-site underwriting and maintaining excellent service levels.
Regular travel to brokers' offices will be required.
Responsibilities include:
* Implementing underwriting strategies within our risk appetite
* Contributing to financial KPIs, balancing revenue achievement with underwriting profitability
* Delivering Victor's service levels on all authorized products
* Ensuring compliance with TCF and regulatory requirements
* Reporting on distribution trends and broker behaviors
* Building strong broker relationships through on-site expertise
* Managing quality and peer review processes for underwriting and product improvements
* Acting within underwriting authority limits
* Developing in-depth knowledge of relevant classes/products
* Staying informed on market trends and industry developments
* Building relationships with capacity partners
* Continuously developing personal technical and soft skills
* Collaborating with sales to implement distribution strategies
* Evaluating KPIs with the Business Development team
* Supporting marketing efforts and new product initiatives
* Completing project work and providing feedback
Requirements:
* Strong understanding of the commercial insurance market
* Proven Agricultural Underwriting experience
* Previous underwriting authority in relevant classes
* Knowledge of in-scope products and trade ranges
* Teamwork experience and results-oriented approach
Preferred qualifications:
* Progress towards CII qualification or equivalent experience
* Ability to manage large, diverse workloads accurately and efficiently
* Resilience and enthusiasm for learning in a busy environment
