Assistant Financial Accountant Location: Sittingbourne Hours: Monday -Friday 8.30am - 5pm Pay rate: £30,000 -£35,000 per year (depending on experience) Our Team Our Finance Team supports all areas of our fast growing business and provides an excellent opportunity to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment providing a rich level of experience for a person seeking to progress their career as a Finance professional. The Role CAPEX Post additions into FAR and depreciation at period end. Project control – Develop a process to manage capex budget, re forecast, approval, PO, GRN, invoices and payment cycle. Provide cash requirement for capex payment. Prepare data and arrange meeting for capital appraisals. Perform Asset inspections and report back to management. Assist with capex budgeting & reforecast. Partnering & support capex budget holders. Capex reporting for period end. Release capex invoices in post control from Medius. STOCK Top level stock reporting. Critically appraise stock control in all areas of Cook and recommend improvements. Analyse stock discrepancies and provide reports back to management. Identify obsolete and slow moving stock. Visit and observe stock take procedures and recommend improvements. Assist in stock budgets & re forecasts. LOANS Assist with RCF drawdowns and repayments. Calculate loan interest for repayment. Reporting for period end. BALANCE SHEET Reporting for period end. Perform reconciliations and investigate any variances. Arrange quarterly Balance Sheet review meetings. AUDIT Provide support to the Financial Accountant in delivering the audit requirements. Liaise with External Auditors and assist with outstanding queries. TAX Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns. Perform regular VAT audit to ensure compliance with VAT regulations. Assist the Financial Accountant with the Corporation Tax returns Arrange corporation tax payments on account. Assist with information required for Capital Allowances computation. Prepare and submit quarterly Duty claim. RISK AND INSURANCE Support the Financial Accountant in coordinating the annual insurance renewal process. Administer insurance claims Arrange quarterly insurance review meetings. STATUTORY REPORTING & COMPLIANCE Compile monthly, quarterly, annual National Statistics reporting. Compile Payment practices reporting. Compile annual return under Companies Act. Ensure all new statutory reporting and regulation requirements are met. PCI Compliance. AD HOC Some ad hoc duties may remain before we can automate the process which will need to be continued in the meantime. Good to Have / About You Basic understanding of internal controls, audit processes, and risk management. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Good understanding of financial processes (Purchase Ledger, Credit Control, GL, payroll, fixed assets). Comfortable working with Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas), ERP system, and reporting tools. High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organisational and time management skills. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Proactive, curious, and eager to learn. Ability to maintain confidentiality and strong ethical standards.
