Our Freight Forwarding division provide a world class range of integrated, scalable, and cost-efficient sea, air, road, inter-modal, and customs brokerage services. Working closely with our customers to connect origins and destinations in their supply chain, flexibly and responsively.
We are on the lookout for an ambitious and energetic Business Development Manager to further strengthen the UK clientele in the northern regions of England & Scotland. This will offer an exciting opportunity for someone ready to further their career. You will be the front of the Company and will have the dedication to create and apply an effective sales strategy.
Purpose of the role
To drive sustainable financial growth through boosting sales and forging strong relationships with clients.
To scope out new business opportunities by identification of gaps in the market and prospective presentations to customers.
Key Accountabilities
1. To maintain excellent Customer relationships at both Senior and day to day levels. Creating strategic relationships to maximise growth and sales potential.
2. Builds excellent internal relationships with Managers at all levels, understanding the dynamics between all departments.
3. Has a deep understanding of freight forwarding, current trends, market constraints and able to identify gaps in the market and areas of opportunity.
4. Responsible for problem solving, working cross functionally, being open minded and creative to find alternative solutions to problems when they may arise.
5. Responsible for the Sales and Operating Process (S&OP), generating data to accurately predict both the Monthly sales forecast but also the annual budgets. Requires accurate costings, good knowledge of volumes and customer sales forecast and performance.
6. Responsible for the achievement of Customer KPI’s and driving initiatives to achieve these.
7. Responsible for Margin Improvement initiatives on all accounts within remit to improve GFS profitability.
8. To develop and sustain strategic partnerships with Customers and ensure that resource is effectively utilized and developed.
9. Create and present Business and Product presentations when required.
10. Any reasonable additional duties requested or delegated by your manager.
Education & Experience
11. A level and/or Degree Level in Business Administration, Sales
12. Spoken and written English Language
13. Excellent level of Word, Excel & PowerPoint
Preferred Criteria
14. Proven working experience as a Business Development Manager, Sales Executive, or a relevant role.
15. Proven sales track record.
16. Sales knowledge from a course/degree or job experience.
17. Market knowledge.
18. Able to work as part of a team and demonstrate team working attributes.
19. Excellent communication and negotiation skills – able to communicate to a variety of different stakeholders.
20. Ability to build rapport.
21. Time management and planning skills
22. Knowledge of Cargowise CRM would be an advantage.
