This role is a temporary full-time position for six months based at our UK HQ in Chippenham with hybrid working options. Salary is circa £40,000 - £45,000 p.a. (pro-rated).
Role
Accounts Payable Team Leader (Temporary) will oversee the day-to-day management of the Transactional Finance team, ensuring operational efficiency, strong process controls, and delivery against SLAs and KPIs. The role supports the team through business changes, including the transition to SAP.
Key Responsibilities
* Team Leadership & Management
o Lead and supervise the day-to-day activities of the team
o Manage workloads and priorities
o Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and appraisals
o Provide guidance, coaching, and support to team members
o Act as first point of escalation for issues and resolve challenges quickly
o Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture
* Operational Oversight
o Monitor team performance against SLAs and KPIs and drive improvements
o Manage open items across all ledgers
o Oversee timely matching and clearance of Direct Debits and Faster Payments
o Maintain oversight of BT vendors and related processes
o Support daily financial close and balance sheet reconciliations
* Financial Control & Accuracy
o Work with the GL team to investigate and resolve discrepancies
o Ensure ledgers are accurate and well-controlled
o Support data quality and controls ahead of SAP migration
* SAP Transition & Change Support
o Support the Finance Manager in leading the team through SAP implementation
o Help embed new processes and ways of working
o Encourage team engagement and understanding during the transition
* Analysis & Reporting
o Support reporting and analysis requirements as needed
o Provide insight to improve team performance and financial processes
Essential Qualifications
* Strong background in transactional finance
* Experience supervising or managing a team
* Good understanding of reconciliations, controls, and ledger management
* Ability to manage workload, deadlines, and competing priorities
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
* Experience with SAP (preferred but not essential)
* Experience supporting system or process change
