Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Bank/Casual Female Support Worker for a role in Thurso. In this role, you will support a lady with Downs Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder, who lives at home with her dad. The lady enjoys music, dancing and singing, daily picnics, day trips and time with her dad and brother. She has a fear of dogs and requires patience, compassion and reassurance from staff. A UK driving license and access to your own car are essential for this role. We provide support from 9am – 9pm Monday to Thursday. On weekends, support runs from 9am – 9pm with a sleepover on Friday and Saturday nights.
Sometimes the people we support need a male or female colleague to assist; for this particular role, a female colleague is required. This is a genuine occupational requirement as defined by the Equality Act 2010.
Responsibilities
* Support the lady with daily routines, activities and community outings, ensuring routines are maintained and safety is prioritised.
* Provide companionship and engage in activities aligned with her interests (music, dancing and singing).
* Support in planning and accompanying day trips and outings, considering her preferences and comfort.
* Communicate effectively with the person supported and the wider team to ensure continuity of care.
Requirements / Qualifications
* UK driving license and access to own car (essential).
* Ability to work with a female client as part of a genuine occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010.
* Relevant experience in health and social care or a willingness to learn and develop in a supportive environment.
Working hours and scheduling
9am – 9pm Monday to Thursday; 9am – 9pm on weekends with a sleepover on Friday and Saturday nights.
