A thriving and well-regarded secondary school in Bishop’s Stortford is seeking to appoint a passionate and committed Teacher of Art for an immediate start on a full-time, long-term basis, with the strong potential for a permanent contract for the right candidate. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking school where the creative arts are genuinely valued and well supported.

The School
This is a high-performing 11–18 secondary school with a strong local reputation for academic standards, behaviour, and pastoral support. The school benefits from a calm and purposeful learning environment, high student engagement, and a visible and supportive Senior Leadership Team. Staff are well supported with clear systems in place, and wellbeing is a key priority.

The Art department is a popular and well-established area within the school, with strong uptake at GCSE and consistently positive outcomes. Facilities include multiple specialist Art rooms, secure storage, and excellent technician support. Creative subjects are celebrated through exhibitions, enrichment activities, and whole-school events.

The Role
You will teach Art across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering practical and theory-based lessons to mixed-ability classes. You will support GCSE coursework and exam preparation, contribute to displays and exhibitions, and work collaboratively with the wider creative faculty. There is also the opportunity to support post-16 provision depending on experience.

This is a well-balanced role combining creativity, structure, and strong departmental support.

The Ideal Candidate
The school is seeking a teacher who:

* Holds QTS and a relevant Art or Design qualification

* Has recent experience teaching Art in a secondary setting

* Demonstrates confident classroom management in practical environments

* Is well organised and highly reliable

* Has a genuine passion for creative education

* Works effectively as part of a team

Salary & Benefits

* Paid to MPS/UPS

* Full-time, long-term stability

* Excellent department and leadership support

* Well-resourced classrooms and technician assistance

* Opportunity for a permanent appointment

This is an outstanding opportunity for an Art teacher seeking a stable and rewarding role in Bishop’s Stortford.
