Overview
A leading construction and waste management business is seeking a Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) Manager to support its demolition and enabling works division. This is a key leadership role focused on developing and maintaining a strong HSQE culture across multiple sites and teams.
Role Summary
Reporting to the HSQE Director, the HSQE Manager will provide strategic and operational support across demolition and contracting operations. The role includes leading site inspections, driving improvement programmes, advising on legislation, and promoting safe, sustainable work environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the implementation of HSQE policies across demolition and contracting projects.
* Provide expert guidance on CDM regulations, RAMS, and project risk assessments.
* Support tender, planning, and project mobilisation phases.
* Conduct audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
* Investigate incidents and provide actionable recommendations.
* Ensure teams comply with current legislation, best practices, and internal procedures.
* Maintain and support industry certifications and quality standards (ISO 45001, 14001, 9001).
* Assist in preparing monthly HSQE reports and performance data.
* Coach and mentor HSQE team members and promote continuous improvement.
Requirements
* Proven experience in a similar HSQE role within construction, demolition, or civil engineering.
* Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and principal contractor duties.
* NEBOSH Construction Certificate (NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 6 desirable).
* IOSH Membership (CMIOSH preferred or actively working towards).
* Experience with waste management or transfer stations is advantageous.
* Solid background in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
* Strong communication and report-writing skills.
* Competency in Microsoft Office and management systems.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
* CSCS Card (CCDO desirable)
* Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) experience
* Lifting Appointed Person certification (desirable)
* Asbestos removal experience
* First Aid certification (preferred)
