This job opportunity would equally suit someone wanting to work up to 26.25 hours per week over 3 to 4 days. We are looking for an Audiologist to join our Paediatric Audiology Service for a 12 month period. We are IQIPS accredited and can support someone wanting an opportunity to gain paediatric experience or to make a move into paediatrics.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Children's Audiology Team based at Brighton General Hospital in the role of Paediatric Audiologist.

The post is based at the Seaside View Child Development Centre at Brighton General Hospital. Within the role there is an expectation to work at our other sites in Haywards Heath and Crawley.

There is scope within the role to develop paediatric audiology skills with a primary focus on hearing assessment and work in partnership with senior audiologists, audiology assistants and the wider multi-disciplinary team of the child development centre across all aspects of paediatric audiology.


Main duties of the job

* To contribute to the development of the Paediatric Audiology service and departmental protocols and policies and to participate fully in the development of objectives within the service.
* To promote the use of social media for the children's audiology service and develop the web based patient/service interface in compliance with SCFT and national guidelines.
* To contribute to the development of local clinical guidelines and care pathways.
* To assume delegated tasks as requested by line manager, including participation in working groups, policy development groups.
* To deputise as necessary for duties and responsibilities within the Paediatric Audiology Service.
* To undertake any other duties at the request of the line manager, which are commensurate with the role.
* To fully participate in the Trust's appraisal system and personal development planning process on a six monthly basis and be responsible for contributing to and complying with agreed personal, service and trust objectives.
* To provide supervision and personal development reviews to those assigned to the post holder through direct line management.

Job responsibilities

* To undertake age-appropriate hearing assessments and interpret the results, develop management plans, liaise with families of all infants and children.
* To undertake age-appropriate hearing rehabilitation appointments and interpret the results and best management.
* To liaise with the wider multidisciplinary team and professionals, where appropriate, in the management of patient care plans.
* To be involved in the daily and yearly maintenance and calibration of audiological equipment.
* To adapt practice to meet the individuals needs, having regard for cultural and linguistic differences.
* To communicate complex, sensitive and contentious information regarding assessment and management to patients/parents/carers and other professionals.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* BSc, MSc, STP or equivalent
* Registered with UK Professional Body


Experience

* 2 years audiology experience post qualification
* Experience and document knowledge of paediatric assessment and referral pathways
* Evidence of verbal and written information
* Team working in a healthcare NHS setting
* Demonstrates up to date clinical expertise
* Evidence of audit or other service development


Other requirements

* Evidence of own transport or transport links to other bases
