Integral to the musical training we offer is the opportunity to perform; in an average year, the Academy runs a vibrant programme of around 500 events. We are looking for a methodical, customer-focussed Library Assistant to work as part of the Library team, who ensure an efficient and effective service is provided to all Academy staff and student users. Key tasks will include: working on the issue desk, issuing items to users and receiving returned stock; assisting users with enquiries and catalogue searching; promoting and supporting the use of library resources and services; assisting with email, phone and in-person enquiries relating to the Library’s working collections, and research and archival collections; processing newly acquired stock (including books, music and recordings); and shelving of returned items to ensure effective future retrieval. The successful candidate will have relevant previous office administration experience, with good customer service skills and good general IT skills, including the use of Word, Outlook and Excel. Knowledge of classical music to degree level or equivalent is essential, as are good interpersonal skills.
