Job Title: Lead Engineer
CBRE Global Workplace Solutions, a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management, is recruiting a Lead Engineer to join the team located in Southampton.
Role Summary:
* Manage own time and allocate work to team members.
* Manage costs related to maintenance activities (specialist and self-perform).
* Ensure all client services, computer rooms, data networks, manufacturing, and revenue-earning services meet client requirements or SLAs.
* Operate dilapidation and update plans for critical environments.
* Manage change control processes in business-critical areas.
* Provide technical management reports as required.
* Provide emergency response standby/call-out.
* Monitor utilities management and environmental programs.
* Support technical audits related to critical environments.
* Support cost-effective procurement of engineering maintenance services.
* Operate within annual engineering budgets for maintenance and repair.
* Maintain critical engineering maintenance documentation/records systematically.
* Advise the Facilities Management Team on critical environment requirements.
* Plan statutory compliance maintenance and testing; report on statutory compliance audits.
* Ensure scheduled completion of PPMs and Critical Facility PPMs.
* Monitor environmental conditions and review equipment loading and working conditions regularly.
* Liaise with EHS specialists to ensure audit compliance.
* Carry out maintenance in line with H&S procedures, using permit-to-work systems.
* Escalate urgent issues to the Technical Services Manager.
Experience Required:
* Electrician with recognized qualifications (apprenticeship, HND, C&G).
* 17th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations - essential.
* Experience in operating data centers/critical environments - desirable.
* Knowledge of emergency response/standby/call-out protocols.
* Understanding of utilities and environmental program monitoring.
* IOSH or equivalent H&S training.
* Excellent contract/supplier management skills.
* Strong facilitation and communication skills at all levels.
* Self-motivated, resourceful, and proactive.
* Confident decision-maker.
* Understanding of water hygiene (L8) - desirable.
* BMS controls/HVAC experience - desirable.
* Operational experience with UPS, standby power, and critical environment cooling.
* Experience managing Environmental, Health & Safety, and Quality Systems.
* Proficiency in PC and MS Office.
