Locum Consultant Cardiologist/Electrophysiology

The post is joint between the two Trusts - with the employment contract being with Hull University Teaching Hospitals. The post-holder will have twin bases - at Castle Hill Hospital (with availability of office space) and at NLAG (with office space at Scunthorpe or Grimsby). There will be no expectation of travel between Trusts during any working day.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a dynamic individual with a commitment to supporting the regional electrophysiology service based at Castle Hill Hospital. The post will attract 10 PA's - with 2 days in the cath lab as well as 2 weekly clinics.

Person Specification
Professional Registration
* Full Registration with the GMC
* GMC Specialist Registration (or expected inclusion within 6 months)
Qualifications and Training
* Valid ALS certificate
* Clinical training and experience in all aspects of cardiology equivalent to that required for UK CCT.
* Evidence of competence in electrophysiology and arrhythmia management
* Evidence of competence in simple device implantation
* Other higher degree (e.g. MD or PhD)
Clinical Experience
* Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months
Management and Administration Experience
* Experience of day to day organisation of cardiology services in a busy teaching hospital
* Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams
* Familiar with current structure of Health service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes
* Management course and/or qualification
Teaching, Audit and Research
* Thorough understanding of the principles of medical audit and quality improvement. Must be able to demonstrate ability to lead change within a service
* Experience of conducting clinical research
* Experience of undergraduate and post-graduate teaching
* Relevant research experience with publication of relevant original research, review articles or case reports
* Teaching skills course/qualification
Personal Attributes
* Ability to work flexibly in a changing health service
* Excellent manner with patients, being sensitive to their needs and fears
* Experience of undergraduate and post-graduate teaching
