Process Safety Engineer Location: VALE Refinery, Clydach
Join Vale’s Clydach Refinery as a Process Safety Engineer and play a key role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our operations. You’ll be the subject matter expert for process safety, leading risk management initiatives and supporting continuous improvement in a dynamic, world-class nickel refining environment.
As our Process Safety Engineer, you will develop, implement, and maintain our process safety management program. You’ll work closely with production and engineering teams to identify and reduce risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive best practices across the refinery. Your expertise will be crucial in incident investigations, risk assessments, and supporting major safety projects.
Act as the process safety subject matter expert for the refinery
Develop, organise, and maintain the refinery’s process safety management program
Lead risk identification, assessment, and reduction initiatives
Support and drive projects aimed at improving process safety and reducing risk
Lead and participate in process safety incident investigations and root cause analyses
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, standards, and guidelines
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed a strong safety culture
5–7 years’ experience in process safety, engineering, or a related field
~ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science preferred
~ Strong knowledge of process safety management, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance
~ Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis
~ Excellent communication and project management skills
