Our Special Educational Needs (SENDCO) Department is integral to the ongoing success of the school, and our Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) are a vital part of the team. We are looking for excellent LSAs to help us empower our KS3 and KS4 SEN students to fulfill their potential. The role will involve:
1. Working, under the instruction/guidance of the SENDCo and teaching staff, to undertake responsibilities that enable access to learning for students;
2. Assisting the teacher in managing students and the classroom. Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching (not during lesson time);
3. Supervising and providing support for students, including those with special needs;
4. Establishing constructive relationships with students and interacting with them according to individual needs;
5. Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all students;
6. Encouraging students to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher;
7. Setting challenging and demanding expectations and promoting self-esteem and independence;
8. Providing feedback to students regarding their progress and achievement under the guidance of the teacher.
Requirements include:
1. A good standard of education (Maths/English GCSE grade A to C/4 or equivalent);
2. A commitment to high standards of achievement from students and yourself;
3. Excellent organisational skills and competence in common IT applications;
4. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to act on your own initiative;
5. An enthusiastic, can-do attitude with a good sense of humour.

All appointments are subject to safer recruitment requirements to ensure safeguarding. The salary range is £19,882 to £20,199 per year (Point 7-8 Essex Scale 4), working 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, during term time only.
