Matchtech are working with a key client to support the recruitment for a Cable Design Engineer working Remote UK+ travel as required.
Our client, a respected consultancy within the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) sector, is seeking an experienced Cable Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis.
You'll be responsible for developing, reviewing, and delivering robust cable system designs that form the backbone of the UK's energy infrastructure. Working as part of a collaborative and technically driven team, you'll play a key role in advancing projects that support the nation's transition to Net Zero.
What will I be doing?
In this role, you'll take ownership of cable system design activities across major transmission and distribution projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
· Developing detailed designs for cable systems in T&D projects.
· Conducting feasibility studies and technical assessments for various cable design options.
· Preparing comprehensive technical specifications, drawings, and design documentation.
· Collaborating with project managers and engineering teams to ensure consistency and integration across disciplines.
· Reviewing and approving design drawings, calculations, and reports.
· Visiting project sites to assess design implementation and monitor progress.
· Ensuring all designs meet regulatory, safety, and client-specific standards.
What do I need to succeed?
You'll be an experienced engineer with a strong background in cable design within the T&D environment. To succeed in this role, you'll bring:
· Proven experience in cable design engineering for transmission and distribution projects.
· Strong understanding of cable design principles, materials, and installation practices.
· Proficiency in relevant design and modelling software tools.
· Ability to produce high-quality technical reports and deliver clear presentations.
· A degree in Civil, Electrical, or Power Engineering (or an equivalent qualification).
