Role Overview
As a High Voltage Technician, you will be part of a specialist production and engineering team responsible for the build, installation, testing, and maintenance of high-voltage systems. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineers and the Cargo Research Team, you will support the development and delivery of next-generation products while contributing to quality assurance and root cause analysis activities.
Responsibilities
1. Install, test, commission, and maintain high-voltage equipment including converters, transformers, filters, and control systems
2. Carry out diagnostics and fault finding on high-voltage systems using specialist tools and test equipment
3. Support monitoring of system performance and assist with operational testing and control activities
4. Ensure all work is completed in full compliance with high-voltage safety procedures, technical standards, and environmental requirements
5. Maintain accurate documentation including maintenance records, test results, and system configurations
6. Operate in accordance with ISO audited quality systems and procedures
7. Support product quality investigations and root cause analysis of failed hardware

Qualifications
10. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline
11. Proven experience working with high-voltage electrical systems
12. Strong understanding of high-voltage safety procedures, including switching and lockout/tagout
13. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
14. Experience working in a regulated production or engineering environment
15. Desirable Experience
16. Experience working with HVDC systems
17. HV Authorised Person (AP) certification
18. IPC J-STD- soldering certification
19. Familiarity with quality systems and formal engineering documentation
