Prescribing Governance Pharmacist

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and motivated pharmacist with broad clinical knowledge and a good understanding of medicines optimisation to join our team. This is a new senior role, created with a dedicated remit to support cost-effective prescribing and medicines decisions, whilst optimising use of our digital systems to deliver cost savings across the Trust. You must be able to work collaboratively to deliver the highest quality of care, and to encourage the development of others, the service, and yourselves. It will involve travel across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Currently, there are no weekend duties, bank holiday working, or late nights. You may be expected to work some Saturday mornings in the future. For further discussions about the role or flexible working, please contact us. Main duties of the job
You will need to be a confident decision-maker, with clear leadership skills, excellent pharmaceutical knowledge, and a sound understanding of pharmacy and hospital services. The post holder will:
* Deliver pharmaceutical care to patients in the Trust; recommend, substantiate, and communicate best therapeutic options for patients and implement changes in prescribing practice to ensure evidence-based medicine is followed as appropriate.
* Support the medicines optimisation agenda at the clinical service level. This includes providing clinical service level medicine usage reports and contributing to policy and protocol development to support the safe and cost-effective use of medicines.
* Work as part of an integrated team supporting prescribers across the Trust in optimising the use of medicines and other prescribable products.
* Be responsible for developing and delivering a medicines optimisation plan for the Trust.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* GPhC registered Pharmacist
* Masters degree in Pharmacy or pre-2000 equivalent
* Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent demonstrable experience
* Evidence of extensive post-registration study/CPD
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at the point of offer.
Experience
* Significant knowledge and experience of prescribing and medicines management
* Significant knowledge of the national pharmacy agenda
* Management of resources and delivery of projects
* Substantial hospital pharmacy experience, including considerable experience as a clinical pharmacist
* High competence in standard IT programs
