Academics (Education Agency) is seeking a qualified and dedicated SENDCO for a temporary position at a welcoming primary school near to Chesterfield, Derbyshire. This is an excellent short-term opportunity to lead SEND provision and make a significant impact within a supportive school community.
As the SENDCO in Chesterfield, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating all aspects of special educational needs and disabilities. You will ensure the school continues to provide an inclusive, high-quality education for all pupils, working closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead SEND provision across the school, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice.
Advise and support teaching staff on effective differentiation and inclusive classroom strategies.
Oversee the maintenance and review of EHCPs, pupil progress records, and SEND tracking systems.
Liaise effectively with parents, carers, and a range of external professionals.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions and support programmes.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Hold the mandatory National Award for SEN Coordination (SENDCO Qualification). This is an essential requirement for this SENDCO post.
Have proven experience as a SENDCO, preferably within a primary setting.
Possess an in-depth understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate (or be willing to obtain one).
