Seeking a Legal Assistant to Join our Team at Chester Law
Chester Law is a full-service law firm located in the heart of Chester on Nova Scotia’s beautiful South Shore. We are seeking a legal assistant to join our growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of practice areas, with a primary focus on criminal law, family law, civil litigation, residential tenancies, and employment law. It is an excellent position for someone who enjoys diverse, fast-paced, and engaging legal work.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, among other things:
* Drafting, proofreading, and compiling court documents, contracts, forms, and correspondence in an accurate and efficient manner;
* Communicating with clients by phone, email, and in person to collect information and coordinate meetings with the legal team;
* Managing deadlines, court dates, and closing dates across multiple files;
* Assisting with data entry and billing;
* Performing general office and clerical duties; and
* Carrying out other related duties as required.
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
* An interest in family law, criminal law, and civil litigation;
* Experience working with the Microsoft Office Suite;
* Experience working with Clio is considered an asset;
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
* A positive attitude and willingness to learn;
* The ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks; and
* Strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
