We’re seeking two new Trustees to help steer our strategic direction and ensure strong governance. Trustees provide oversight, contribute to working groups, and act as ambassadors for our mission.

We are looking for individuals who bring A clear commitment to DiMHN’s values and a belief in the power of good design to improve mental health outcomes Strategic thinking and sound judgment, balancing big-picture vision with attention to detail Integrity, objectivity, and accountability, upholding strong standards in governance and decision-making Excellent communication skills, with the ability to listen with empathy, speak with clarity, and build trusted relationships Willingness to invest time and energy and contribute meaningfully to meetings, committees, and wider Trustee duties We particularly welcome new perspectives and expertise in the areas below. Mental Health Service Delivery & Policy Whether your background is in clinical services, commissioning, community support, estates, or lived experience, we value your insight. As mental health care increasingly happens in schools, housing, workplaces, and communities—not just hospitals—your perspective can help us shape policy, influence standards, and embed design thinking wherever care is delivered. Digital Technology As care environments evolve, so do the tools that support them. We welcome individuals with experience in digital health, AI, immersive tech, or digital strategy. Your knowledge can help us shape the future of therapeutic spaces that blend physical and digital care. Commercial, Income & Financial Strategy We are seeking experience in commercial partnerships, income generation, business development, or financial strategy—especially within health, social impact, or design. Your contribution will help strengthen DiMHN’s financial resilience and grow strategic collaborations that extend our impact. Research & Evaluation If you have experience in academic or applied research, evaluation, or impact measurement, we’d value your support. You can help build DiMHN’s evidence base, inform best practice, and demonstrate the tangible value of good design in mental health settings.
What will you be doing?
Trustee Role Description – Design in Mental Health Network (DiMHN) Location UK-wide (online board meetings, with occasional in-person events) Time Commitment 8–12 hours/month Term 3 years (renewable up to 9 years) Remuneration Voluntary (expenses reimbursed) Start Date October 2025 Apply by 5pm, Friday 5th September 2025 Interviews 15 Sept (PM) & 17 Sept (AM) About DiMHN The Design in Mental Health Network (DiMHN) is a UK charity working to improve mental health outcomes through better design. We bring together professionals in healthcare, design, policy, and lived experience to help shape therapeutic, safe, and inclusive environments. Key Responsibilities Shape DiMHN’s vision, strategy, and values Support governance, legal, and financial compliance Advise and support the CEO and team Represent DiMHN externally Contribute to partnerships, research, and fundraising Why Join Us You’ll join a forward-thinking, multidisciplinary community working to transform mental health environments. Who We’re Looking For We especially welcome applicants with insight in the following areas Mental Health Services & Policy Digital Health & Technology Finance & Commercial Strategy Research & Evaluation Eligibility You must be over 18 and eligible to serve as a charity trustee.
