The GP Assistant will report to the Practice Manager and GPs, and will support the GPs to ensure the efficient provision of medical services and clinics, by performing several more routine administrative and clinical duties. This will allow the GPs to utilise their own time more effectively towards greater patient focused activities.
This post is for up to 30 hours per week. Applications via CV will also be welcomed.
This a great opportunity for career transformation into the realms of clinical scope whilst maintaining elements of administrative responsibilities.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a GP Assistant who will support both clinical and administrative teams in the delivery of services, working as part of the Practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of Practice to the entitled patient population.
Utilising the NHS Health Education England GPA Competency Framework, the post holder working within General Practice will develop capabilities within care, administration, clinical, communications and health records management.
About us
We are a premises-owning, five Partner, training practice with a growing list size, currently around 15,000. We have three Salaried GPs, a Clinical Pharmacist, two Advanced Care Practitioners, two Nurse Practitioners, three Practice Nurses, one Nursing Associate and two Healthcare Assistants, and a strong close-knit administrative team providing clinical support.
As well as the Practice staff, patients can also access additional roles including Social Prescribers, Adult and Child Mental Health Workers, Physicians Associate and First Contact Practitioners through BYTES Primary Care Network.
We have a strong reputation as a teaching and training Practice. We share our passion for Primary Care through providing placements for sixth form students, teaching all years of medical/nursing students, allied health professionals and GP Registrars. Each week we provide "clinical huddle" as well as "lunch and learn" for all staff, where we have covered topic areas such as menopause, dementia awareness and self-defense.
We are strongly embedded in our local community. Over the last few years, we have participated in Yarm Fun Run, organised and held community public health awareness days (for cancers and CPR training), and held Open Days for school students interested in a medical career.
