This is an exciting time to join the Student Counselling and Mental Health Advice Service at Imperial College! We have been investing heavily in our Service to better support our students through university life. The Senior Student Mental Health Intervention Officer is a new key role within the Student Counselling and Mental Health Advice Service, with responsibility for the day-to-day clinical practice of the Mental Health Intervention Officers. The Student Mental Health Intervention Team assesses, stabilises, refers and signposts, students where there is a concern. These are students who may be struggling emotionally or psychologically and may present a risk to their health and wellbeing, or those around them. You will play a vital role in ensuring we are providing a robust and responsive service to these students.
You will join a strong team of senior clinicians at the service, including three Senior Student Counsellors, a Senior Mental Health Advisor, and a Senior Study Mentor (Mental Health).
1. Line management supervision of Student Mental Health Intervention Officers and supporting their development.
2. Managing and monitoring the clinical workflow of the service as well as evaluating and improving service delivery
3. Containing and managing risk as necessary, including sharing duty across the working week with other senior practitioners
4. Supporting academic and professional colleagues within the university in responding to students in distress
5. Providing and developing workshops and training on topics related to mental health
6. An appropriately qualified, registered and experience Mental Health professional with line management experience
7. A commitment to and belief in supporting the mental health of students so they can be successful at university

9. Ability to manage and contain risk and to support those working with clients in crisis
