This is a permanent position that offers the chance to contribute directly to a major transformation in the University’s cyber resilience. As an enthusiastic and forward-thinking individual, you will play a key role in strengthening the University’s cybersecurity capabilities and supporting the successful delivery of this strategic programme. The role will involve leading the design and implementation of advanced technical and procedural controls, developing and embedding robust risk management processes, and ensuring the University’s digital assets are protected to the highest standard. You will collaborate closely with colleagues across IT Services, Faculties, and central departments, providing expert advice on security architecture, configuration management, incident response, and policy development. This is a hands-on technical and strategic role suited to an experienced cybersecurity professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a proven track record of delivering measurable security improvements in complex organisations. You will have in-depth knowledge of security frameworks such as NCSC CAF, Cyber Essentials and CIS Controls, together with a deep understanding of core cybersecurity principles including confidentiality, integrity, availability, and zero-trust methodologies. We are seeking a confident communicator and strong team player who can build positive relationships, influence at all levels, and work effectively across cross-functional teams. You will have the professional credibility to advise stakeholders and the drive to help shape the University’s cyber maturity journey.
