Job Title: Electronics Engineer
Location: Southampton / Isle of Wight (hybrid working 3 days onsite, 2 remote)
Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 depending on experience
Security: British nationals only. Must have held a UK passport and residency for a minimum of 5 years and be eligible for Security Clearance
Octagon Group is working with a leading defence technology organisation seeking an Electronics Engineer to join their growing engineering team based across Southampton and the Isle of Wight. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to mid-level Electronics Engineer with around 1 to 3 years industry experience looking to accelerate their career within advanced electronic hardware development supporting military programmes.
The successful Electronics Engineer will contribute across the full product lifecycle, supporting the design, development and verification of high-speed embedded electronic systems while working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities – Electronics Engineer – Southampton / Isle of Wight
* Design and develop high speed digital electronic hardware involving microprocessors or FPGA
* Support electronic designs from concept through to New Product Introduction
* Produce schematics, PCB layouts and detailed engineering documentation
* Interface with Ethernet and CAN Bus systems
* Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions on existing products
* Support the development of bespoke test equipment to streamline manufacturing
* Participate in peer reviews and ensure designs meet compliance and manufacturing standards
* Collaborate closely with engineering teams to deliver innovative technical solutions
* Required Experience
* Degree qualified in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
* 1 to 3 years of experience in electronics design
* Experience with embedded hardware and high-speed digital circuits
* Working knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout tools, such as Altium
* Understanding of the electronic product development lifecycle
* Motivated, proactive and eager to develop within a defence engineering environment
