Job Summary As the Project Controller in IT you will make a tangible impact on projects across their entire lifecycle, through the management of all project specific cost and commercial controls. Your focus will be financial management, updating cost trackers, managing time and expense bookings, preparing invoices, and contributing to project financial reporting. Working with Project Managers, you will ensure accurate reporting of project performance on a weekly / monthly basis to aid delivery of safe, timely and in-budget operations. As Project Controller your key duties will include: • For capital projects, the preparation of the capital funding requests. • Partner with Finance to set up the project in SAP and associated systems. • Establish and monitor a cost and resource loaded, logic linked, baseline plan (schedule) for the project. • Work with the Project Manager and the Project team to establish the project activities, cost and durations and ensure that these reflect project scope, constraints, and commitments. Challenge as necessary to ensure optimisation, compatibility, and compliance. • Interpret Progress specifics and advise of any potential to optimise project financial performance at project inception. • Assist with scope change preparation and reforecasting. • Conduct / provide input to project variance analysis against the baseline and subsequent root cause analysis, followed by provision of narrative, recommendations & recovery planning in accordance with business and finance reporting timescales. • Responsible for the preparation and issue of project cost and schedule reports in accordance with the requirements of the Project Manager and the Finance team • Conduit to the Finance team, providing advice on accruals needed for work performed but not invoiced/received. • Liaise with Supply Chain on matters relating to requisitioning and good receipting. • Liaise with Finance department to ensure timely raising of accurate Invoices in line with Contract stipulated timelines. About you: • Experience in a similar position for at least 2 years. • Working knowledge of project management principles and how project control activities underpin them. • Proficiency with tools and metrics needed to evaluate project performance, specifically around cost and schedule. • Experience with SAP preferred. • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals at varying levels. • Strong organisational skills with ability to prioritise workload and multi-task • Well-developed project and programme management skills: being organised and disciplined, showing attention to detail, and following up doggedly to ensure the right results. • Ability to navigate conflicting views and priorities with senior stakeholders • Degree qualified or equivalent, a lesser qualification may be accepted where it is supported by relevant experience. • Relevant experience within a project environment involving cost engineering related duties and responsibilities.
