The Flood Risk Management Team are responsible for managing the local flood risk of approximately 240,000 residents in one of the highest flood risk areas in Wales. In delivering the management of flood risk for the authority the FRM team undertake a wide range of regulatory functions principally identified within the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and Land Drainage Act 1991:

* Regulatory functions (Consenting and Enforcement),
* Developing and Maintaining a Local Strategy
* Flood Investigations,
* Asset Management,
* Sustainable Drainage Approval, Inspection and Adoption
* Flooding Awareness and Communication.

The Flood Risk Management Team are responsible for managing the local flood risk of approximately 240,000 residents in one of the highest flood risk areas in Wales. In delivering the management of flood risk for the authority the FRM team undertake a wide range of regulatory functions principally identified within the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and Land Drainage Act 1991:

* Regulatory functions (Consenting and Enforcement),
* Developing and Maintaining a Local Strategy
* Flood Investigations,
* Asset Management,
* Sustainable Drainage Approval, Inspection and Adoption
* Flooding Awareness and Communication.


The team further, delivers a wide range of Flood Alleviation schemes which includes, Natural Flood Risk Management (NFM), Sustainable Drainage (SuDs), Property Flood Resilience/Resistance (PFR) measures along with more traditional interventions to mitigate flooding from ‘local sources’ (Surface Water, Ground Water and Ordinary Watercourses).

We are seeking to appoint a suitable person to the role of ‘Flood Support & Awareness Officer’. The post-holder will be contributing to the development, implementation, and delivery of the Councils Local Flood Risk Management Strategy, specifically focusing on community engagement.

Therefore, it is essential that applicants must have a keen interest and knowledge of community engagement techniques and knowledge of website management. It is desirable that the post holder have a degree in flood risk management or multimedia or similar disciplines such as marketing, media, journalism, environmental science, Geography, civil engineering etc.

Furthermore, it is essential that the post-holder have experience of working effectively with professional partners and working effectively with the community. It is further desirable for the post holder to have experience with multimedia marketing and ideally have developed and implemented plans and guidance.

The role will also support the wider responsibilities of the LLFA, SAB and LDA regulatory bodies and may assist the team to play its part in tackling Climate change and meeting its Carbon reduction targets across the services.
