Overview
At our Ford Chichester site we are looking to recruit a Vehicle Service Technician to join our high performing team.
Vehicle Technicians / Mechanics remain at the core of what we do, and we have some great opportunities for Techs at all levels.
Responsibilities
* Conduct full examinations of vehicles, including electronic health checks.
* Identify non-routine defects and faults in the workshop or during vehicle road tests.
* Undertake timely repair and servicing of customer vehicles in accordance with technical standards.
* Provide knowledgeable, courteous, responsive, and efficient service to all colleagues and workshop customers.
* Work closely with the front‑of‑house service team, ensuring they are kept informed of the progress on customer vehicles and are fully briefed on work completed.
* Discuss technical issues/works directly with customers when requested.
* Offer technical advice and support to workshop apprentices.
* Work with the wider workshop team to design and implement new methods of work to improve efficiency.
Qualifications
* Experience Vehicle Technician, ideally from a main dealer/franchise environment.
* Relevant formal qualification (NVQ Level 3, IMI, City & Guilds).
* Ability to work within defined processes and guidelines, and to promote best practice throughout the workshop.
* Customer focused with strong communication skills – able to explain technical information to non‑technical audiences.
* First‑time fix mentality.
* Committed to continuous development of technical knowledge and skills.
* Team player – mentoring or supporting other Technicians.
* Possession of an MOT licence is advantageous but not essential.
* Full UK driving licence and confident driver.
* Passion for the industry and desire to succeed.
