The salary for this role is £24,811 - £26,123 per annum, plus Local Government Pension Scheme contributions of 18%, additional holiday for your birthday, and Christmas closure of up to 2 weeks in addition to holiday entitlement of 25 days.
Contract Type: 38.5 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, permanent.
Location: Paignton, Devon.
Scope and Responsibilities: An exciting opportunity has opened within our Estates and Facilities department to join the team as a Caretaker - Handyperson. You will work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team to deliver high-quality caretaking, security, maintenance, car parking, and grounds services for the college.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
* Incident & Fire Management: Respond to fire alarm activations, investigating the cause with the Incident Management Team, and sweep buildings to ensure full evacuation.
* Risk Assessments: Conduct risk assessments for all assigned tasks.
* Weekly Vehicle Checks: Test, check, valet, and carry out minor repairs on college vehicles as directed.
* Maintenance: Carry out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance across the campus, including tasks such as locks, ironmongery, furniture, building fabric, decoration, drainage, minor electrical, plumbing, and data cabling.
* Porterage and Post Security Support: General security duties, moves liaison for internal moves and relocations, groups, car parks, and signage, supporting cleaning contractor with daily issues, and parking control systems, CCTV, and access control.
Essential Requirements: Ability to travel to and from remote locations, experience in a similar role, and qualifications such as Basic Health & Safety Certificate, Minibus Training Certificate, Trade background, IPAF / PASMA certification, or a Full UK Driving Licence.
Working Hours: 38.5 hours per week, working in a shift pattern between 05:45am and 22:30pm, Monday to Saturday. Shifts will be confirmed 28 days in advance where possible.
