Responsibilities
* Day‑to‑day management of surgical inpatients.
* Assisting consultants in outpatient clinics and operating theatres.
* Participating in the on‑call rota and covering for colleagues as required.
* Assessing, caring for and treating patients presenting to the specialty and referred to the speciality.
* Teaching and training staff in other medical disciplines and mentoring more junior trainees.
* Participating in relevant audit and quality assurance processes.
* Abiding by the Clinical & Corporate Governance policies of the Trust.
* Ensuring guidance from the General Medical Council on Good Medical Practice is central to clinical practice.
* Keeping clinical knowledge up‑to‑date through continuous medical education.
* Seeking regular feedback and following appraisal processes with clinical and educational supervisors.
* Maintaining flexibility to meet patient care needs and departmental priorities.
* Contributing towards individual and team objectives to uphold high departmental standards.
