SENCO Role Overview
As the SENCO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience of students with special educational needs. Your responsibilities will include:
* Strategic Leadership: Developing and implementing the school's SEN policy and ensuring it aligns with national and local guidelines.
* Coordinating Support: Overseeing the day-to-day operation of SEN provision, including managing the SEN register and coordinating interventions.
* Collaboration: Working closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create comprehensive support plans for students.
* Training and Guidance: Providing professional guidance to colleagues and facilitating training sessions to promote inclusive teaching practices.
* Monitoring and Evaluation: Assessing the effectiveness of SEN provision and making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes for students.
* Compliance and Record-Keeping: Ensuring the school meets its responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and maintaining accurate records of all pupils with SEN.

Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential for leading SEN provision effectively.
* National Award for SEN Coordination: Or a willingness to complete it within three years of appointment.
* Experience: Proven track record in teaching at the secondary level and leading SEN initiatives.
* Knowledge: Deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and the ability to apply it within a school setting.
* Communication Skills: Ability to liaise effectively with parents, staff, and external agencies.
