We are currently partnering with a Local Authority based in Oxfordshire, who are recruiting for an Adult Social Care Lawyer to join their growing team on a locum contract, minimum 3 months.
This is a full-time position with a rate of up to £60/hour (umbrella) and the start date is subject to notice. Our clients are considering applicants on a fully remote basis.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
1. Carrying a varied caseload and advising officers and elected members on statutory duties and powers under legislation such as the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and related regulations and guidance
2. Conducting/managing legal proceedings and representing the Local Authority in the Court of Protection, High Court, and other relevant forums, including handling safeguarding, deprivation of liberty, and welfare cases
3. Preparing and scrutinising legal documents such as court applications, witness statements, care plans, policies, and agreements to ensure legal compliance and robustness
4. Supporting lawful and defensible decision-making by ensuring compliance with human rights, public law principles, and equality duties, and advising on challenges, complaints, and judicial review risks
Requirements:
5. Experience working within Local Government
6. Qualified Solicitor
7. Current practicing certificate
