Role Overview
The Head of Coverholder Development will lead a clear UK coverholder commercial strategy and engagement model, working with key internal and external stakeholders. They will actively manage and expand coverholder and related broker relationships, working with the Underwriting teams to help profitably grow the portfolio and maximise opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Strengthen the quality and depth of relationships with coverholders and their brokers, identifying business opportunities.
* Articulate a clear value proposition and engagement model, developing strategies for more effective coverholder interaction and improved performance.
* Actively manage and expand relationships with key MGA and broker partners, Trade & Market Associations and Lloyd’s Country Management teams.
* Play an active role in differentiating the MGA Business in a rapidly changing marketplace.
* Work with UK & Lloyd’s Broker Management and Alternative Distribution Director on the coverholder element of strategic broker plans, highlighting areas for greater penetration.
* Support the market strategy for UK & Lloyd’s Business working collaboratively with multiple stakeholder groups.
* Enhance the reputation of AXA XL as the carrier of choice for coverholder business through marketing efforts and high‑quality solutions.
* Work with underwriters to retain and grow their books of business while maintaining the highest levels of account service.
* Engage with governance teams to deliver services that provide an enterprising advantage.
* Champion cross‑sell processes, increasing product density and encouraging sharing of opportunities across business lines.
* Maximise opportunities with the broader AXA Group businesses to provide overall solutions and revenue synergies.
* Develop a pipeline of opportunities, metrics and analysis for reporting the effectiveness of coverholder development and engagement.
Reporting
You will report to the Chief Distribution Officer, UK & Lloyd’s.
Qualifications
* Extensive marketing and sales skills including presentation, development, communication and negotiation skills.
* Distinguished across multiple elements of AXA XL Leadership Model (strategic thinking, innovation, active response, collaboration, excellence promotion, accessibility, constructive debate, enterprise mindset).
* Highly skilled in promoting teams and achieving real results through collaboration across product lines.
* Extensive work experience and knowledge in one or more main lines of business, with a good understanding of underwriting processes and risk factors.
* Extensive knowledge and expertise of key global insurance markets for MGAs and their trade associations.
* Ability to articulate the innovative and customized solutions AXA XL brings from its broad product base.
* Significant experience of MGAs, underwriting and insurance operations, broking or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Sound understanding and use of targeting, analysis and strategic planning approaches.
* Extensive understanding and familiarity with local insurance markets, distribution channels and competitors.
* Excellent influencer and collaborator: Develop and maintain productive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
* Effective communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, presentation and influencing skills.
* Results oriented: Approach tasks proactively, anticipate needs, think quickly and prioritise multiple work streams without sacrificing quality.
* Continuous improvement focused: Willing to ask questions and explore new ideas; eager to learn and focused on continuously improving technical skills and capabilities.
