Our Rail Advisory Team is growing its Rail Asset Management capability, working across infrastructure enhancements, new build railways & metros, rolling stock and depots. To continue this growth we are looking to appoint a Rail Asset Management Lead to help develop our business and support the leadership and development of our people.
As the Rail Lead you will act as a focal point for developing and delivering advisory and consultancy services to our clients on how to plan and implement asset management, utilising and optimising asset data and embracing the use of AI and machine‑learning. You will provide technical leadership to teams and projects, utilising your knowledge to lead or direct our engagement on projects and to clients.
Key responsibilities include delivering on projects, directing, supporting and coaching team members, developing and managing client and stakeholder relationships, and acting as a Project Manager where required. You will engage the wider asset‑management community within WSP to support strategic growth and collaborate in knowledge sharing and development.
A Little Bit More About Your Role

* Work with the rail asset management lead to grow the service offering and capabilities.
* Deliver asset‑management services across rail projects in the UK and potentially internationally.
* Support complex projects using expertise in risk‑based decision‑making, whole‑life asset planning, information management and regulatory compliance.
* Develop relationships with other asset‑management teams and mentor and coach junior resources.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
* Practical experience in the management and maintenance of railway assets, and experience delivering asset‑management consultancy/advisory roles.
* Experience in the technical development and mentoring of people in asset management.
* A strong understanding of the design and maintenance engineering challenges faced by rail.
* Experience with asset data systems, including configuring or specifying Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems, CMMS or Decision Support Tools (DSTs).
* Demonstrable experience and understanding of asset‑management practices, theory and business strategy.
* Knowledge of the regulatory frameworks affecting rail infrastructure development in the UK.
* Experience in ISO 55000, asset lifecycle planning, investment planning, risk‑based asset‑management strategies and digital transformation.
* Ability to build strong relationships with clients and project teams, and to work across regions and internationally.
* Chartered Engineer or equivalent qualification.
