Help at Home Support Worker.

JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of this role is to provide a variety of help and support at home to older people aged 50+ living in Gwent. The Help at Home service delivers support to the highest standard, assisting individuals with everyday tasks to allow them to remain living independently within their own homes and communities. Support includes, but is not limited to; wellbeing sessions, shopping, domestic and venue toenail cutting.
All support is tailored to meet the needs of the individual and at an affordable cost whilst also promoting their well-being and dignity. You will be proactive but empathetic and will have a passion for supporting older people and be flexible in order to meet service needs.
You must hold a Full UK Driving Licence with appropriate business user insurance and be willing to use your own car for work purposes. The post holder will be required to undergo an Enhanced Criminal Record check before starting work.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* To provide a high-quality service to older people in their homes, helping them to maintain their property and lifestyle to the standards they would like
* To be responsible for completing the tasks as requested by the client to a high standard, which include:
* Wellbeing support
* Shopping
* Venue toenail cutting
* General domestic cleaning
* Any other support roles as the service expands
· To follow the detailed support needs plan provided by the Independent Living Manager
· To have a clear understanding of the needs of clients, to observe and react appropriately
· To maintain comprehensive visit records for clients, using a computerised database (Care Planner) to update case notes after each visit
· To document any client concerns on the computerised database (Care Planner) and report to the Independent Living Manager immediately
· To complete any service-specific paperwork and upload it to the computerised database (Care Planner) within a timely manner
· To develop and maintain good relationships with the clients and those delivering care from other agencies
· To think and act in a non-judgmental way
· To collect payment for services as necessary, issuing receipts and passing monies to the Independent Living Manager
· To maintain confidentiality and understand data protection - GDPR regulations
· To ensure that safeguarding of clients is a key priority and take any necessary internal and external procedures and action
· To be active in the promotion of the chargeable Help at Home services, including attendance at external events, leafleting and direct advertising as directed.
· To submit expense claims and annual leave requests in a timely fashion and in good order
· To be prepared to undertake regular training as required under external and organisational regulations, including online training modules
· To form an active part of the Help at Home Team and attend team meetings, individual meetings, external meetings, supervisions and annual appraisals
· To carry out any other duties commensurate with the level of this role across the organisation's service delivery area as required by the Independent Living Manager
· To be willing to travel and work flexibly throughout the charity operational area
· To be prepared to work from any of our operational bases as required

ESSENTIAL
· Good standard of literacy and numeracy
