FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Solutions Architect to work for our client within the defence sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Bristol, Chippenham, Reading, or Hemel Hempstead.
As a Solutions Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing and developing scalable, secure, and high-performance network infrastructure solutions. Your work will support our client’s extensive network ecosystem, spanning cloud, data centres, and enterprise systems. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement the latest networking technologies that ensure seamless performance for both internal and customer-facing services.
Responsibilities
1. Engage with customers, business stakeholders, and key partners to provide end-to-end architecture governance, leadership, and solution decision-making aligned with the Solution Design Authority principles.
2. Develop and own enterprise architecture artifacts, strategies, and roadmaps from business and technology perspectives, including ‘as-is’, ‘to-be’, and transitional states, addressing stakeholder requirements.
3. Provide subject matter expertise to key stakeholders in providing consultative engagement, shaping, and qualifying complex service change, delivery, and resource requirements.
4. Own and engage stakeholders in responding to complex customer requests for information, contract change notifications, solution design proposals, and bids throughout the solution lifecycle.
5. Deliver architecture outcomes such as proofs of concept, whitepapers, bid documents, and high-level design collateral addressing complex requirements.
Requirements
1. Experience with enterprise network security and boundary protection.
2. Knowledge of service provider networks (e.g., DWDN, SDH, OTN).
3. Experience with ICT vendor technologies and products (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, F5, Nokia).
4. Familiarity with industry architecture methodologies and languages (e.g., TOGAF, ArchiMate, ITIL, BPMN).
5. Experience using enterprise architecture toolsets (e.g., iServer, IBM Doors).
6. Experience responding to complex, multi-vendor public sector propositions and bid proposals (RFI, PQQ, ITT).
7. Ability to develop solution roadmaps and governance structures aligned with customer requirements.
8. Must hold or be eligible for SC Clearance.
