Field Data Centre Engineer Location: Bracknell, Berkshire Employment: Permanent Salary: £38,000 rising to £44,000 Shifts: Mon-Fri Days About the Role TGS International are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Centre Engineer to join our client’s team in Bracknell. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting critical data centre operations, focusing on structured cabling, hardware installation, and infrastructure audits. Key Responsibilities * Rack and stack servers, network devices, and storage hardware. * Accurately read and follow patching schedules. * Deliver patching work to an exceptionally high standard. * Audit, document, and improve existing hardware and cabling layouts. * Install, terminate, and test Cat5e/6/6a and fibre structured cabling systems. * Support the design and planning of new data centre deployments. * Contribute to large-scale data centre migration projects. Desirable Experience & Qualifications * 3 years’ experience in structured cabling and patching. * 3 years’ experience in data centre environments (ideally within DC Operations). * Relevant cabling certification (CNCI, BTEC, City & Guilds, or BICSI). * Deep knowledge of cabling installation best practices and testing (copper & fibre). * Skilled in using testing equipment: OTDR, Fluke, Network Analyser, VFL. * Strong understanding of CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6A, OM3/OM4, OS2 cabling systems. * Hands-on experience in installation, termination, and testing of copper and fibre networks. * Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding ability using industry-standard tools.
