Depot & Transport Manager Location: East London E3 (Fully Onsite) Hours: 40hrs p/week Schedule: Sunday–Friday (day/evening/lates – flexible approach to support all operational teams) Salary: £35,000–£45,000 per annum (includes 10% OTE performance bonus) Reports to: Operations Manager Direct Reports: Currently 2 Supervisors, plus Picking & Delivery Teams About Us At Jones Bros, we’re a proud family-run business that’s been delivering the freshest milk and produce to London and the surrounding areas since 1877. Is This You? · A proactive leader who thrives on ownership and making a real impact · Experienced in leading small teams – or a seasoned supervisor ready for the next step · Focused on performance, efficiency, and developing people · Confident managing B2B deliveries, fleet compliance, and daily logistics · Holds a valid UK manual driving licence and is comfortable with Excel, Outlook, and Word · Leads by example, gets stuck in when needed, and creates a positive, productive environment What You’ll Be Doing Operations Management · Oversee and be accountable for the end-to-end evening picking operation · Work closely with supervisors to plan shifts, manage resources, and meet daily targets · Ensure all stock is received, stored, and discrepancies reported within agreed SLAs · Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement across the depot · Maintain accurate and compliant operational documentation · Manage the night-to-day handover process, escalating any issues to customer care Transport & Fleet Management · Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy, compliant, and regularly maintained · Plan delivery waves in line with picking and customer needs, ensuring safe yard practices · Maintain detailed, accurate transport records · Understand customer routes and expectations thoroughly Team Leadership · Lead, motivate, and support supervisors, pickers, and delivery drivers · Conduct team reviews, regular 1-to-1s, and training to uphold high standards · Ensure depot is always audit-ready (health & safety, transport compliance, etc.). · Ensure depot health & safety policies and SSOWs are followed by staff · Support recruitment for drivers, pickers, and depot staff as needed. · Oversee onboarding, induction, and training of new team members. · Report depot KPIs directly to the Operations Manager What You’ll Bring · Strong team management and leadership skills · Experience with performance management (PDPs, 1-to-1s, basic HR practices) · A hands-on, solution-focused mindset · Excellent time management and organisation · Knowledge of logistics, B2B delivery, and fleet compliance Why Join Us? · Join a close-knit, growing team where your input truly matters · Take ownership of a key site and play a leading role in its success · Be part of a stable, fast-growing company with nearly 150 years of history · Work from a brand-new facility designed with growth in mind Sound like a good fit? Cross-Team Collaboration · Act as the key liaison between operations, customer care, sales, and warehouse. · Communicate proactively with other depots or business units if applicable. 5. Risk Management & Compliance · Conduct regular risk assessments. · Ensure depot is audit-ready at all times (health & safety, transport compliance, etc.). · Stay up to date with industry regulations (e.g., driver hours, vehicle maintenance logs, food safety if relevant). 6. Customer-Facing Escalations · Be the point of contact for any high-level delivery or service issues. · Work closely with the customer care team to resolve problems quickly.
