Support the daily operations of the Technical Transfer Station by receiving waste consignments, verifying documentation, completing waste transfer notes, identifying and addressing non-conformances. Conduct inspections, identify and segregate waste deliveries, prepare dispatch loads, assist in loading and unloading lorries, maintain site cleanliness, and operate waste processing equipment. Uphold high standards in work, health, and safety.
Key Duties:
* Receive and document incoming loads according to site permit regulations.
* Inspect, classify, and segregate waste in compliance with ADR.
* Ensure proper labeling and description of loads.
* Raise Non-Conformance reports, implement corrective actions, and communicate issues to stakeholders.
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation of traceable records for received, stored, and transferred waste in line with Quality Management Systems.
* Competently and safely operate forklift trucks.
* Assist in preparing dispatch loads for flatbed vehicles and vacuum tankers.
* Ensure accurate labeling and listing of outgoing loads to third-party disposal sites.
* Contribute to maintaining the cleanliness of the Transfer Station through yard sweeping and jet-washing.
* Safely operate machinery and plant equipment.
* Promote and uphold high safety standards.
* Ensure full compliance with Company policies, including health and safety and employment.
* Perform other duties or ad hoc projects within the job holder's skills and capabilities as requested by the Manager/Supervisor or the Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
* Minimum HNC in Chemistry or a related discipline; a degree in Chemistry (or related discipline) preferred.
* GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics and English Language.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge:
1. Full compliance with Company policies, including health and safety and employment.
2. Basic understanding of chemicals and hazards.
3. Ability to work outdoors and in potentially challenging environments (e.g., wearing protective suits and respirators).
4. Strong desire to learn.
5. Ability to work in busy environments and meet precise deadlines.
6. Flexibility with working hours to ensure smooth Transfer Station operation.
7. Own transport required due to the rural location.
