Higher Level Teaching Assistant Wigan £2000 - £2360 - (potential salary depending on experience and/or qualifications and number of hours worked each week) Immediate start – July 2026 The School and Role Are you a skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant with strong Key Stage 2 experience? Based in the Wigan area, our school offers a supportive, inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued and motivated to achieve their best. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to support teaching and learning across KS2, delivering planned activities, supporting individuals and small groups, and occasionally leading whole-class sessions. A strong understanding of the KS2 curriculum is essential, particularly in reading, maths and SATs preparation, with the ability to break learning down into manageable steps. Experience supporting pupils with the transition to high school is highly valued. Strong behaviour management, a nurturing approach and high expectations for all pupils are essential. Requirements The requested skillset the desired Teaching Assistant will require; Education to Level 4 or above in a educational subject or an ECT who wishes to gain more experience will also be considered. Will have recent experience working in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 or primary education. Have a genuine desire to become part of a committed team of teachers. Have a passion for teaching with the ability to plan and deliver inspiring lessons. You will need excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
