The Senior Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and securing the right products at the right cost, quality, and lead time to support Dreibach’s multi-channel growth across Amazon, TikTok Shop, B&Q, wholesale, and retail partners.
This role owns supplier management, cost engineering, and purchase order execution end-to-end. A successful Senior Buyer is highly commercial, detail-oriented, strong in negotiation, and capable of managing multiple suppliers across multiple regions.
Responsibilities
* Source new suppliers and products globally, primarily in China, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
* Negotiate pricing, payment terms, rebates, tooling costs, packaging requirements, and MOQs.
* Conduct cost breakdowns to optimise landed cost (material, labour, CBM, duty, freight, currency).
* Attend supplier meetings, trade shows, and virtual factory audits when required.
* Maintain strong, proactive relationships with suppliers and factories.
* Review supplier performance (quality, reliability, lead times, defect rates).
* Resolve supplier disputes, price increases, capacity issues, and quality concerns.
* Ensure suppliers comply with Dreibach standards, certifications, testing, and regulatory requirements.
* Create and manage POs from approval to delivery.
* Track production progress, shipment readiness, and ETAs.
* Coordinate with freight forwarders to secure the most efficient shipping method and pricing.
* Ensure on-time delivery to the warehouse and resolve delays promptly.
* Analyse landed cost, duty rates, freight options, packaging cost, CBM, and unit economics.
* Provide accurate costings to the Category Manager and Finance teams.
* Support margin improvement initiatives through cost reduction, supplier consolidation, or product spec changes.
* Recommend cost-engineering solutions to improve profitability.
* Review samples for quality, accuracy, and compliance.
* Coordinate pre-shipment inspections and quality checks with QC teams.
* Ensure packaging, labelling, manuals, and certifications are compliant with UK/EU standards.
* Investigate defects, returns, and customer feedback to improve product quality.
* Work closely with Category Managers to understand demand, product gaps, and range strategy.
* Collaborate with Supply Chain & Operations to ensure stock availability and accurate inbound planning.
* Work with the design team on packaging, artwork, and product improvements.
* Align with Finance on cash flow, PO approvals, costings, and budgeting.
* Ensure supplier data, costing, and PO details are accurate in internal systems (Google Sheets, BigQuery, ClickUp).
* Use forecasting tools, automated demand planning, and sales data to guide purchasing decisions.
* Produce weekly/monthly purchasing reports including ETAs, PO statuses, delays, and risk levels.
* Proactively identify risks such as stock shortages, supplier issues, shipping delays, or geopolitical disruptions.
* Implement mitigation strategies to protect supply consistency.
* Escalate critical issues to the Head of Buying & Supply Chain with recommended actions.
Experience
* 3–5+ years experience in buying, sourcing, or procurement within China/Asia
* 2+ years in a Senior buying role
* E-commerce buying experience
* Strong negotiation skills with proven cost‑saving achievements.
* Deep understanding of landed cost, CBM optimisation, duty/tariff structures.
* Experience managing multiple suppliers and complex supply chains.
* Strong commercial and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
* Experience with packaging, product sampling, testing, and compliance.
* Comfortable with Google Sheets, forecasting tools, and digital workflows.
* Experience in Home, Garden, Lifestyle, Storage, Tools, or Household categories.
* Experience with Amazon/TikTok/B&Q supply needs.
* Experience with ClickUp, Slack automations, and Google Workspace.
* Mandarin‑speaking (not essential but extremely valuable).
Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm
This role is hybrid, working from home on Fridays
