The Opportunity:
Working as part of our Birmingham-based Environment and Planning team, you will be involved in the screening, scoping, and coordination of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), working with internal and external specialists and environmental stakeholders. You will also assist in the preparation and delivery of planning applications for various infrastructure and development projects. Responsibilities include financial monitoring of projects, budget management, and supporting business development activities.
Our EIA team provides high-quality support across development types such as residential, retail, storage and distribution, renewable energy, waste facilities, utilities, and minerals. EIA Coordinators oversee and manage EIAs from conception to post-submission, demonstrating expertise in their field. Wardell Armstrong is a registrant of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) EIA Quality Mark, underscoring our commitment to excellence.
This is a full-time position; part-time applicants will be considered. We welcome candidates with 2-8 years of experience. We emphasize staff development, encouraging self-directed study and career progression. Support is provided for staff pursuing Chartered Status, with a reward upon successful registration. Candidate Requirements:
* A degree in an environmental discipline; a second degree in Environmental Impact Assessment or Environmental Management is desirable but not essential.
* Motivated with strong organizational and communication skills.
* Flexible, capable of contributing to multiple work streams.
* Good knowledge of the UK planning system, EIA Regulations, and experience in coordinating environmental assessments.
* Willingness to travel throughout the UK may be required.
