A well-established and progressive private practice law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor or Legal Executive to join its growing Employment team, based in the Telford area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated employment law professional to take on a varied and engaging role, combining Employment Tribunal litigation with advisory work for employer clients across a range of sectors.
The Role
The successful candidate will manage a mixed caseload, including a strong focus on Employment Tribunal matters, primarily acting for respondents. Litigation work will account for approximately 25–30% of the role.
Alongside contentious work, you will provide ongoing employment law and HR advice to a portfolio of retained business clients as part of a nationwide employment and HR support service. Clients typically include organisations within the education, healthcare, and professional services sectors.
The advisory element of the role is commercial and solution-focused, involving:
* Day-to-day employment and HR guidance
* Drafting tailored employment documentation
* Attendance at client sites, including supporting and co-chairing employee hearings
* Delivery of HR and employment law training to managers
You can expect to be responsible for around 20–25 retained employer clients.
About You
* Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with 3–5+ years’ PQE in employment law
* Demonstrable experience running a diverse Employment Tribunal caseload
* Strong background advising employers on employment and HR issues
* Commercial, pragmatic approach with a client-focused mindset
* Excellent organisation, drafting, and IT skills
* Comfortable managing deadlines and working under pressure
Experience advising professional-sector employers or delivering HR/employment training would be advantageous but is not essential.
As the role involves regular client visits, a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required.
What’s on Offer
* Competitive salary, dependent on experience
* Clear scope for career progression, including involvement in developing the firm’s contentious employment offering
* Hybrid working available (one day per week from home following probation)
* Generous benefits package, including:
* Up to 34 days’ annual leave
* Private medical insurance
* On-site parking
Working Hours
* Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
* Office-based role with some flexibility post-probation
