Insurance Officer / Senior Insurance Officer Salary: Band E/F – £38,220 to £51,356 per annum (dependent on experience and performance) Location: Council House, Solihull / Hybrid | Full-Time: 37 hours We’re seeking an experienced Insurance Officer / Senior Insurance Officer to join our team. Following a period of transition, we are reshaping the Insurance service at Solihull, ensuring the efficient and effective management of our insurance programme and our claims handling arrangements. You will lead the management of insurance claims and support the delivery of a robust insurance programme across the Council and its subsidiaries. You’ll play a key role in ensuring claims are handled efficiently, targets are met, our systems are fit for purpose and that stakeholders are kept well-informed through accurate reporting and analysis. You will: Manage and oversee all insurance claims across our Public Liability, Employers Liability, Motor, and Property programmes. Lead the relationship with our external claims handling agent to ensure quality and value Develop and maintain the claims management system and reporting processes Provide financial analysis and trend insights to support renewals and tenders Conduct on-site investigations, prepare statements, and negotiate settlements Authorise claim payments up to £25,000 Provide technical insurance advice across the Council Supervise team members and contribute to continuous service improvement Deputise for the Insurance Manager (Band F level) and lead on policy development and procurement You will have: Certificate from the Chartered Insurance Institute or equivalent experience Experience in insurance claims handling, risk management, and customer service Strong knowledge of insurance systems, policy wordings, and relevant legislation Excellent IT, communication, and analytical skills Ability to manage others and work independently In addition for Band F: Proven ability to lead insurance procurement and manage complex portfolios Comprehensive knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules and insurance practices Applications are welcomed from candidates who meet the criteria for Band E or Band F.
