team player
who can connect opportunities across the business and translate complex data into clear, actionable strategies that shape executive-level decisions, all while operating with a deeply
Agile mentality .
Key Responsibilities ·
Hands-on Strategic Analysis:
Personally lead and execute the most strategically important analyses for the company. This involves hands-on work with complex, cross-domain data, advanced predictive modelling, and machine learning techniques using Python, R, and our full analytical toolkit.
·
Agile & Value-Focused Delivery:
Operate with a deeply Agile mentality, prioritising work that delivers the most significant and
immediate value
to the business and our customers. Work within an Agile framework to deliver insights iteratively, ensuring a constant flow of value and rapid response to changing business needs.
·
Cross-Functional Opportunity Identification:
Act as a key connector across the organisation, helping our teams to identify and capitalise on opportunities that span multiple business domains. Use your unique, enterprise-wide view to find patterns and create cross-functional value that might be missed by individual teams.
·
Champion AI for Scalable Insights:
Drive the strategy for leveraging AI capabilities within the Data Democratisation toolkit to accelerate insights and improve scalability. You will champion and lead the adoption of features like
Tableau Pulse ,
Tableau Einstein ,
BigQuery's AI capabilities, and
Atlan AI, ensuring our teams can deliver faster, better insights with our existing resources.
·

Act as a designated leader within our C4E for the advanced analytics discipline. Define the best practices, tools, and methodologies that will elevate the entire insights capability at VMO2.
·
High-Level Mentorship:
Act as the ultimate analytical authority and mentor for the senior analysts and key stakeholders across the business. Cultivate a culture of deep, proactive, and value-focused analysis through hands-on guidance, coaching, and sharing of expertise.
Core Competencies & Skills ·
Technical Skills:
Mastery of advanced analytical and statistical techniques, with deep,
hands-on
expertise across our full analytical toolkit: expert-level SQL (BigQuery), Python, and/or R.
·
Strategic Thinking & Business Acumen:
Exceptional ability to understand and translate high-level business strategy into a clear, hands-on analytical research agenda. A strong commercial mindset, with a proven ability to connect analytical work directly to metrics that drive company growth and customer success.
·
Leadership & Soft Skills:
A core team player, with a natural ability to collaborate and build trust across multiple teams and functions. Outstanding ability to communicate complex analytical findings in a simple, compelling way to senior executive audiences.
A Day in the Life (Example) A typical day for the Principal Data Insights Analyst is a blend of hands-on analysis, strategic thinking, and collaboration:
·
Morning (Connect & Strategise):
You might start by reviewing key VMO2 performance metrics to spot anomalies or trends. This is followed by an Agile stand-up with a virtual team you're guiding on a cross-functional analysis, helping them unblock a technical challenge. You then join a strategy session with the Head of Data (Commercial) to help shape their quarterly priorities based on an insight you uncovered last week.
·
Mid-day (Deep, Hands-on Analysis):
This is your protected time for deep work. You could be building a predictive churn model in a Python notebook, exploring customer behaviour patterns using advanced SQL in BigQuery, or using Tableau's R integration to visualise the output of a complex statistical test.
·
Afternoon (Influence & Mentor):
You might present the findings of your churn model to the Commercial Director, providing a clear, actionable recommendation. Afterwards, you could run a C4E session on "Applied AI for Analysts," sharing best practices on using BigQuery AI with other analysts and helping a senior analyst from another team with their project.
Your First 90 Days: A Plan for Impact (Example) ·
First 30 Days (Learn & Connect):
Immerse yourself in the VMO2 data ecosystem. Build relationships with key Heads of Data and Technical Leads. Use Atlan to understand our key Business Layers. Identify a high-impact, short-term analytical project that can deliver immediate value.
·
Next 30 Days (Deliver & Influence):
Deliver the findings from your first project, demonstrating a clear link to customer success or company growth. Begin to proactively identify new opportunities and use your findings to influence the backlogs of relevant squads.
·
First 90 Days (Strategise & Scale):
Based on your initial learnings, draft a high-level strategic roadmap for Advanced Analytics at VMO2. Present this vision to the Data Democratisation SLT and begin to establish yourself as the go-to expert for complex, data-driven problem-solving.
Key V2MOM Measures for This Role (Example) Your success will be measured by your direct impact on our core strategic objectives:
·
Forge Strategic Partnerships & Drive Customer Value:
The insights you generate will be the foundation for new strategic initiatives and will directly contribute to improving customer success metrics.
·
Design and Develop Engaging Data Products:
Your proactive analysis will be the primary source of new, high-value ideas for our data product backlogs, directly influencing the "48 new Strategic Data Democratisation Products" measure.
·
Increase Data Literacy, Awareness, Adoption, & Engagement:
By mentoring others and leading C4E initiatives, you will directly contribute to increasing our overall "Data Democratisation Maturity" score.
