Trainer / Assessor - Rail Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
Location: Nottingham Area
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Expenses + Benefits
Are you a qualified Trainer or Assessor from a mechanical or electrical background looking for a stable, rewarding, and hands-on training role within the rail engineering sector?
We are currently recruiting for two Trainer / Assessors to join a purpose-built training academy based near Nottingham, delivering a nationally recognised Mechanical and Electrical Installation Competency programme. This is a permanent position, offering long-term stability and clear development pathways within a growing training organisation.
You'll play a key role in upskilling the rail engineering workforce and supporting competency across the industry through structured, real-world training and practical assessments.
We are recruiting for two positions currently, both a Mechanical-Biased and an Electrical-Biased Rail Engineering Trainer.
The Role:
* Deliver engaging, hands-on training and practical assessments for small groups (6-10 learners)
* Use real-world tooling and rail vehicle assembly rigs to train key competencies ( torque tightening, earth bonding, cable looms, Harting connectors)
* Guide learners in interpreting technical drawings and complying with safety and engineering standards
* Work with aligned training documentation to support both practical and knowledge-based assessments
* Maintain accurate training records and contribute to the ongoing development of course materials
The Person:
* Experience in a Trainer, Assessor, or as an Instructor role
* Ideally holds an Assessor Qualification ( TAQA, A1, D32/D33 )
* NVQ / C&G Level 3 or higher in either mechanical or electrical engineering
* Rail industry experience (highly desirable)
* Strong communication and coaching skills with a passion for workforce development
