Product Design Engineer
A forward-thinking engineering firm specializing in the design and manufacturing portable, are seeking a Product Design Engineer to join its expanding team. Working Hours:
MondayThursday: 8:30am5:00pm
Friday: 8:30am1:30pm
Salary: £35,000£45,000 (dependent on experience) + bonus scheme
Role Purpose
You will play a key role in delivering innovative mechanical design solutions that align with the companys strategic objectives. Youll contribute to both new product development and improvements to an existing product range, all within a structured and supportive engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop new and improved products that are cost-effective, safe, and reliable.
Deliver custom design solutions tailored to individual customer requirements.
Manage design projects using sound engineering principles and structured methodology.
Create technical drawings and documentation for internal use, client quotations, and production.
Apply engineering calculations and FEA to predict structural performance.
Prepare technical reports and analyses as needed.
Manage and maintain bills of materials using the companys ERP system.
Ensure compliance with all applicable standards and regulatory requirements.
Conduct product testing and validation procedures.
Collaborate across departments including production, sales, finance, and marketing.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.
At least 3 years of experience in a mechanical/product design role.
Proficiency in SolidWorks and engineering calculations.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication, time management, and organizational abilities.
Commercially aware and able to work under pressure.
Experience with ERP systems and aluminium structures is beneficial.
