Deputy Nursery Manager
Full time Hours: 37.5 per week – Monday – Friday – between the hours of 8am and 5pm
Term time only
Salary: Scale 4, SCP 8–11
We are seeking a skilled, committed and nurturing Deputy Nursery Manager to support the leadership of our 2–3‑year‑old nursery provision, based within our welcoming and inclusive primary school in Wellington, Telford.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a school‑based, term‑time nursery, supporting high‑quality early years provision for our youngest children and working closely alongside our 3–4‑year‑old nursery class to ensure strong continuity and smooth transitions.
About the role
Working under the direction of the Nursery Manager, you will:
* Support the day‑to‑day leadership and organisation of the 2–3 nursery
* Deliver high‑quality, developmentally appropriate early years practice
* Promote children’s wellbeing, communication, emotional security and independence
* Support safeguarding arrangements and welfare requirements
* Deputise for the Nursery Manager when required
The nursery is inspected by Ofsted as part of the school, and safeguarding practice is subject to annual Telford & Wrekin safeguarding audits. You will play an important role in ensuring practice is consistently strong, reflective and inspection‑ready.
We are looking for someone who
* Holds a minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification
* Has experience working within the EYFS, ideally with 2–3‑year‑olds
* Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
* Is calm, caring and professional, with a child‑centred approach
* Works effectively as part of a team and demonstrates leadership potential
* Is committed to high standards, inclusion and continuous professional development
* Experience in a school‑based or term‑time nursery, and/or Deputy DSL training, would be advantageous but is not essential.
* Is willing to undertake Paediatric First Aid training if not already qualified
