As a key part of our Platform IPT roadmap, the Platform Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading the execution and performance of infrastructure delivery projects, ensuring technical initiatives align with business value and contribute meaningfully to the platform strategy.
This role involves driving measurable outcomes, maintaining delivery momentum, and ensuring our platform engineering teams operate at a high level of capability and accountability. You will oversee the delivery of infrastructure, automation, and platform modernization projects, while also owning team development and capability tracking across multiple specialist disciplines.
What You Will Be Doing
1. Own delivery tracking and team performance across infrastructure and platform engineering teams.
2. Report regularly to the Head of Platform Engineering on progress, risks, and impact across all active initiatives.
3. Ensure delivery of roadmap-aligned platform projects by structuring work clearly, managing dependencies, and resolving blockers quickly.
4. Partner with Product and Programme leadership to ensure team structure, training, and tooling are in place to meet roadmap demands.
5. Monitor and develop team capability using structured review processes, including skills matrices and progression ladders.
6. Promote a culture of delivery excellence, engineering discipline, and personal accountability.
7. Encourage cross-team alignment on shared technical goals, such as DSC implementation, observability standards, and automation.
8. Support long-term platform value creation by ensuring projects deliver measurable benefits to the organization.
What We Are Looking For
1. Demonstrable technical experience within a Microsoft Stack or data engineering environment.
2. Proficiency in Agile development methodologies with relevant qualifications.
3. Proven experience managing and motivating a software development team.
4. A team-oriented individual passionate about engineering excellence.
5. Working knowledge of all areas involved in the Software Development Lifecycle.
6. Effective communication skills and ability to build relationships at all levels.
7. Empathy with Product team tasks.
8. Awareness of Wardley Mapping and SRE practices.
