We’re looking for a Technical Demonstrator Manager to lead our talented demonstrator team, ensuring visitors experience the sights, sounds and stories that make this place truly special. This is a part time role, working 3 days a week. The days will be mostly Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, but there will be regular weekend working and so flexibility is needed. This is a job share role. Click here for more information about this location What you'll be doing You’ll lead the day to day management of the technical demonstrator team, ensuring demonstrations, interpretation and maintenance on the technical floors are delivered to the highest standard. You’ll create an exceptional visitor experience by ensuring consistent, engaging demonstrations that showcase the site’s textile heritage and enable visitors to understand, appreciate and interact with our stories. You’ll oversee training, presentation and operational standards, making sure equipment is cared for, demonstrations are safe, and all relevant conservation and compliance requirements are met. You’ll safeguard materials and resources, ensure machinery is operating correctly, and take action when faults arise. You’ll engage with visitors to gather feedback, support income generating opportunities, and contribute to the property’s interpretation and business planning. You’ll also help ensure that spun thread and woven fabric produced on site meets the standard required for sale. Alongside this, you’ll help foster a positive team culture, support staff and volunteers, and play an active role in managing operational risk and maintaining excellent customer service throughout the site. Who we're looking for proven experince in managing a team practical knowledge and experience of textile machinery. experience in textiles, interpretation and/or event delivery in a heritage or tourism setting. strong verbal communication skills and confidence presenting to a wide range of people. experience supervising, supporting, coaching or training others, including volunteers. a commitment to excellent visitor service and the ability to motivate teams to deliver it. experience identifying and managing risk, with knowledge of relevant health and safety procedures. good organisational skills and the ability to manage your own time effectively. strong people skills and a collaborative approach to working across departments good IT skills, including Microsoft Office The package The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart.
