Director of Operations - Transport, Maidstone
Reporting to the Managing Director, Transport & Logistics, the role holder will develop and lead operational excellence and best business practices, optimising our services and value offerings to achieve performance targets. The role requires innovation, leadership, financial focus, growth, and fostering a high-performance culture. Client interaction is significant, requiring excellent relationship management skills.
About the Role
This position involves extensive interaction within the company and with external clients, so excellent communication and influencing skills are essential. Responsibilities include supporting business development activities such as quotes, tender submissions, and client presentations. The candidate must have strong leadership and motivational skills to create a high-performing team, coach and develop team members, and support colleagues. Innovation, compliance with industry standards, employment legislation, ISO, company policies, and a focus on health and safety are also critical.
Responsibilities
* Oversee daily operations of the role portfolio.
* Develop and implement process improvements to enhance service quality and efficiency.
* Experience in delivering security and cleaning contracts within both single and integrated service delivery markets, especially in Transport and Logistics, is essential.
* Manage multi-service lines, multiple sites, and teams in a senior operational management role.
* Collaborate with executive management to develop performance goals and operational plans.
* Set strategic goals for operational efficiency and productivity.
* Implement and monitor operational systems and processes to track progress and identify obstacles.
* Analyze operational performance and recommend improvements.
* Build relationships with department heads, partners, and vendors to make strategic decisions.
* Identify and implement strategies for company-wide growth, maximizing output and minimizing costs.
* Manage budgets and initiatives to improve financial targets.
Qualifications
* A relevant Business Degree or equivalent experience.
* Proven senior leadership experience in a related field.
Required Skills
* Strong knowledge of operational functions including finance, customer service, operations, and people management.
* Track record of strategic operation management, client relationship building, and value-based management.
* Ability to plan and optimize operational processes.
* Experience in implementing organizational structures that support efficiency and adaptability.
* Knowledge of industry regulations and legislation.
* Creativity in removing barriers and motivating teams.
* Leadership qualities to inspire and meet targets in a fast-paced environment.
