About the Company:
Our client specialises inrepairing and restoringindustrial equipment.They work across a variety of sectors, including:
* Water Industry Specialists– Keeping wastewater operations flowing smoothly.
* Pharmaceutical & Chemical– Supporting critical manufacturing infrastructure.
* Mining & Power Generation– Helping heavy industry stay up and running.
* Food, Drink & Agrochemical– Ensuring production lines don’t grind to a halt.
Their approach involves retrieving faulty equipment from industrial sites, repairing it in their fully equipped workshop, and reinstalling it in peak condition.
The Role:
AsWorkshop Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of the workshop and its team. Your responsibilities will include:
* Team Leadership & Organisation– Managing and supporting a team ofmachinists, fitters, welders, labourers, drivers, and a storekeeper, ensuring workflow remains efficient.
* Operations & Logistics Coordination– Overseeing collections, deliveries, and subcontractor jobs (including galvanising, painting, and machining).
* Procurement & Stock Control– Sourcing bearings, gearboxes, steel stock, consumables, and other essential components.
* Engineering & Problem-Solving– Designing and sketching repair solutions for frames, filters, rotating assemblies, couplings, platforms, hoppers, and more.
* Planning & Estimation– Tracking hours worked on each job, estimating repair times and material costs to support project engineers with accurate quotes.
What We’re Looking For:
* Extensive experience in workshop management, ideally with a hands-on background in machining, fabrication, or mechanical fitting.
* Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a busy team effectively.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset.
* Experience with procurement, logistics, and liaising with subcontractors.
* A methodical and organised approach to planning and estimating work.
